ABSTRACT
Objective: This Study Aimed To Assess The Accuracy Of Linear Measurements Achieved Using Planmeca Promax 3D MID? CBCT Scanner In Both Standard And Different Head Positions.

Materials and Methods: Eleven Dry Human Skulls Were Selected Where Gutta Percha Markers Were Located To Define 3 Dimensions (occluso-apical, Bucco-lingual And Mesio-distal Dimensions) In 5 Regions For Each Jaw: Anterior, Bilateral Premolar And Bilateral Molar. Real Measurements Were Taken Using A Digital Caliper. Then, The Skulls Were Imaged In Standard And Four Accurately Adjusted Different Head Positions (forward Tilt, Backward Tilt, Lateral Tilt And Rotation). Linear Measurements Were Performed On CBCT Images By Two Radiologists Separately And Independently.

Results: Statistical Analyses Revealed Excellent Inter And Intra Observer Agreement Between The Linear Measurements Performed By Both Observers On CBCT Images In Each Skull Position And Moreover, An Excellent Agreement Of These Measurements And The Real Measurements. The Absolute Measurement Error Did Not Exceed 0.52 Mm In All The Study Regions Of All The Skull Positions, And No Statistically Significant Difference Was Found Between This Error In All CBCT Linear Measurement Performed In Any Skull Position. Conclusion: Within The Limitations Of The Current Study, Linear Measurements Performed Using Planmeca Promax 3D MID? Are Accurate And Reliable, And Their Accuracy Is Not Influenced By Minor Changes In The Patient?s Head Position.
